Effect of Arginine-Vasopressin(4-8)on PKC and PKA Activities in Rat Brain

Abstract

AVP(4 8),one of the endogenous metabolites of arginine\|vasopressin(AVP)in brain,can facilitate the acquisition and maintain of learning and memory.AVP(4 8) can induce a series of biochemical reactions in rat brain.PKC is an important mediator of signal transduction.The specific binding of AVP(4 8) on rat hippocampus was determined by radioligand binding assay.The activity of PKC in rat brain was significantly enhanced by AVP(4 8),and the enhancement of PKC was suppressed by ZDC(C)PR,an antagonist of AVP(4 8).Under the same conditions,the activity of PKA was not changed.
