Abstract

Two kinds of konjac glucomannans (KGM) ,named aKGM and rKGM were isolated from the tubers of Amorphophallus albus and Amorphophallus rivieri respectively. They were homogeneous in ultracentrifugal analysis, glass-fiber electrophor-esis and gel filtration.Both of them were composed of D-glucose(G)aud D-manno-se(M).The molar ratio of G aud M iu aKGM was 1:1.69, and that iu rKGM was 1:1.6. Their molecular weights were estimated to be 8 .0 ×910s and 7.37 × 10s respectively .Enzymatic hydrolysis experiment aud infra-red absorptiou spectrum analysis showed that the D-glucose aud D-mannose fesidues of both KGMs were joined together by β-1,4-linkages. It seemed that some sugar residues had o-acetyl group.
