Abstract:MicroRNA-129 (miR-129) is a gene family, which consists of miR-129-5p, miR-129-1-3p and miR-129-2-3p. They played an important role in many life activities, such as cell growth, development and carcinogenesis. miR129 often abnormally expressed in a variety of common tumors, and the abnormal expression was closely associated with tumorigenesis. For example, they were up-regulated in gastric cancer and lung cancer or downregulated in breast cancer and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. miR-129 plays key roles in tumorigenesis by regulating the expression of its targets such as sex-determining region Y-box 4 (SOX4), cyclin-dependent kinase 6 (Cdk6), valosin containing protein (VCP) and glypican-3 (GP3).
